Junior Section – Oldmeldrum Golf Club

Following a hugely successful 2025 season, the future of junior golf at Oldmeldrum Golf Club is brighter than ever. Under the leadership of our Junior Convener, Fraser Mearns, alongside our fantastic team of dedicated volunteers, the Junior Section has continued to grow and develop at an incredible rate.

Last season was a landmark year for the club as we proudly crowned our first Junior Champions since 2018 — a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment shown by everyone involved.

With junior membership numbers continuing to rise, we are excited to expand opportunities even further throughout 2026, creating a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment for young golfers of all ages and abilities.

2026 Junior Programme

Our full 2026 Junior Programme is now available and includes competitions, coaching, fun events, and development opportunities designed to help every junior enjoy and progress in the game.

Junior Coaching

Our volunteer coaching team is currently preparing an exciting 10-week coaching programme, beginning on Monday 13th April. Coaching sessions will run throughout April to June and are designed to help juniors build confidence, develop skills, and most importantly — have fun.

Junior Course Access

As our Junior Section continues to grow and develop, we want to ensure that every young golfer enjoys the best possible introduction to the game in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

Following the significant increase in junior participation during the 2025 season, it became clear that some players were accessing the course before fully learning the important aspects of golf etiquette, course awareness, and the Rules of Golf. As golf courses can present a number of safety risks, both for junior players and other course users, it is essential that all juniors develop these skills and knowledge before progressing onto the course independently.

With such exciting growth in our Junior Section, we believe it is important to introduce measures that both protect our young golfers and help them build confidence and understanding of the game in the right way.

As a positive step forward for 2026, we are introducing a staged approach to course access, designed to support juniors as they progress through their golfing journey safely and responsibly.
